Kempower Unveils Comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment of the Kempower Satellite and Kempower Power Unit for the first time

LCA is one of the most popular standardized method for uncovering the environmental impacts of a company’s actions, such as products and processes.

The leading manufacturer of EV fast charging solutions, Kempower, announces the results of its recent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the Kempower Satellite DC charging system. The assessment is the first of its kind for Kempower and one of the first in the DC charging industry. The landmark LCA defines the carbon footprint (CF) of the Kempower Satellite and Kempower Power Unit.

LCA is one of the most popular standardized (ISO 14040 and 14044) method for uncovering the environmental impacts of a company’s actions, such as products and processes. LCA can be used to report the company’s activities transparently, form paths towards a more sustainable future and assist in prioritizing the actions to achieve it. Kempower co-operates closely with its value chain’s suppliers and works internally to keep the data for the LCAs up to date.

The LCA-results of the Kempower Satellite and Kempower Power Unit present the environmental impact with a cradle-to-grave -approach, including components and materials, assembly, distribution, use, maintenance, and end-of-life. The carbon footprint of the Kempower Satellite is 922 kgCO2eq and for the Kempower Power Unit 27 047 kgCO2eq.

“The LCA is an essential tool for Kempower in meeting the evolving demands and expectations of our environmentally conscious customers. We work closely with trusted chosen partners and subcontractors, and together we ensure to meet the requirements for environmental and social sustainability. Transparency is paramount throughout our manufacturing process, and the LCA helps us identify opportunities to improve the environmental performance of our products throughout the whole life cycle. We’re proud to publish the first LCA in Kempower history,” said Sanna Otava, Chief Operating Officer at Kempower.
