Kempower and Virta to deliver megawatt charging system for electric cars and trucks to Hedin Supercharge’s public charging hub in Linköping, Sweden

The charging facility in Linköping consists of four CCS2 charging points with Kempower Liquid Cooled Satellites, offering up to 400 kW of charging power. Megawatt charging will be available by the end of 2024.

Leading DC fast-charging solutions provider Kempower delivers its megawatt charging solutions to Hedin Supercharge’s newest public charging station, operated in the Virta platform. Hedin Supercharge has been building public fast charging stations in various locations across Sweden since 2023, and the company’s vision is to become one of Sweden’s leading charging operators for electric vehicles – both passenger cars and trucks.

In connection with Hedin Bil’s opening of its latest multi-brand car dealer and service facility in Linköping, Sweden, on the 31st of May 2024, Hedin Supercharge opens its newest charging hub with Kempower’s charging solutions, provided by the Virta charging platform. The charging hub has been equipped with 1.2 megawatts of power with two triple cabinet Kempower Power Units, providing fast charging for both electric cars and trucks. Later this year, the station will be one of the first in the world to offer MCS charging with Kempower Mega Satellites.

The charging facility in Linköping consists of four CCS2 charging points with Kempower Liquid Cooled Satellites, offering up to 400 kW of charging power. Megawatt charging will be available by the end of 2024. The total charging capacity at Hedin Bil’s facilities in Linköping now includes charging spots for four trucks and seven passenger cars.

On the opening day, visitors will experience the latest in electric transport as Hedin Bil, a part of Hedin Mobility Group, inaugurates one of the country’s most modern truck facilities. Linköping offers a strategic location along the E4 highway, where significant transport and travel occur between the country’s major cities. The new charging station is situated close to Hedin Bil’s new facilities, which also include a truck center offering both sales and servicing for heavy trucks.

“With the inauguration in Linköping, we are beginning a new chapter and starting to work more closely with the transport sector. Together with our existing and upcoming charging stations for passenger cars, we are now well-equipped for expansion both within and outside Sweden’s borders. We strongly believe that our offering of fast and easy charging will make it easier for all types of electrified transport in the future,” says Erik Aspholmer, CEO of Hedin Supercharge.

“We are very pleased to be part of a project to offer charging stations capable of delivering over 1 MW. Developing the possibility to also run heavy transports on electric power is important for the continued electrification of society. We are proud to make this possible in partnership with Hedin Supercharge and Kempower,” says Martin Lundgren, Country Director of Scandinavia at Virta.

“It is fantastic to support Hedin in their pioneering role in offering MCS charging for trucks. The charging site is MCS-prepared and will be among the first in the world to offer MCS charging with our Kempower Mega Satellites. During the inauguration in Linköping, one can get acquainted with the future solution, a big sibling to our Kempower Satellite that is a familiar sight for many EV drivers in Sweden,” says Erik Kanerva, Sales Director of Northern Europe at Kempower.

Hedin Supercharge will continue its rapid expansion of charging stations for passenger cars both in Sweden and across Europe. The initiative for charging heavy vehicles, like the one in Linköping, will also continue.
